  • Using a multimeter
  • Electronics Module (ECM):
    • Basic principle of operation
    • Electrical signal technology and testing
    • Automatic diagnostics functions ("fault" codes )
    • Diagnostic procedures
  • Reading CAT electrical wiring diagrams
  • Identification of components on machines
  • Machine supervision:
    • E.M.S. control panel
    • CMS control panel (VFD)
    • CMS2 control panel (pointers)

Targets

After this course the trainee should be able to:

  • Use a miltimeter
  • Reading and using a wiring diagram
  • Be familiar with the basic principle of operation of an ECM module
  • Identifying and testing electrical signals
  • Implement diagnostic procedures to comply with "fault” codes
  • Perform day-to-day diagnostic operations

This course will enable trainees to attend specific training modules
involving on-board electronics:

  • Electronic management engine
  • Electronic powertrain management system
  • All applications managed by an E.C.M. module.
